WELCOMES NEW PHYSICIAN
Dr. Spencer Lee and his fiancé Kari,
have recently arrived in The County!
A little about them:
Dr. Lee is working out of the Sandbanks Medical Centre in Wellington for the next year or so.
In his spare time, he loves to ski and sail.
Kari is a Child and Family Therapist working on the Brief Therapy team at Children’s Mental Health Services of Hastings and Prince Edward. Kari loves to travel when they can find sitters for their 2 cats.
Thanks to our Doctor Accommodation Network (DAN), they are currently settling into their new home.

On The right track
County Docs attended the Canadian Society of Physician Recruiters’ annual conference in April. It was an engaging and informative event on recruitment strategy and idea sharing. More importantly, it was a much-needed barometer check to see how our focus and program elements compare with other physician recruitment programs across the country. We are confident our program is competitive and set for success. The intense family physician shortage we are feeling locally is also being felt across Canada
RECRUITMENT NEWS
t’s been a busy few months as County Docs wrapped up 3 key recruitment initiatives this past quarter.
1. International webinar targeting Canadians studying family medicine in Australia and the US
2. Exhibitor at the Society of Rural Physicians of Canada conference
3. Social media and medical journal ad blitz
From these 3 initiatives, in addition to our regular recruiting activities, we generated 15 new leads. While we are happy to be intersecting with so many new leads, it’s important to remember that the road to recruitment is long, with some of these leads being 1-2 years away from being practice-ready. Fortunately, we have another recruitment event coming up in August at a medical conference in Toronto. We look forward to reporting on the outcome of that event.
CURRENT STATE
With the recent departure of Dr. Laura Arul, we currently have 8 physician opportunities in PEC. There are a couple leads we are quite optimisit about and are hoping to report some exiting news in the coming months
A WORD FROM DAN
Our Doctor Accommodation Network (DAN) is picking up steam! We’ve already helped secure accommodations for 5 locums.
Q: What is a locum?
A: A locum is a fully licensed physician providing temporary coverage of an existing practice for vacations, medical leave, etc.
