COUNTY DOC

TALK

October 2023

Author: Adam Hambly

THEY HAVE ARRIVED!

Dr. Meagan Dineen and her husband, Nate, arrived in The County earlier this month! A little about them:

Dr. Dineen is planning to take over Dr. Adamek’s practice within the next couple months. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, paddleboarding and spending time with her 2 dogs.

Nate has his Masters in History and secured a professor position at Loyalist College. He loves playing soccer and hockey, and is looking forward to checking out our amazing craft beer scene.

Welcome guys!

DAN Delivers Again!

Our Doctor Accommodation Network (DAN) found an amazing home for Dr. Dineen and her husband while they browse real estate options in The County.

Recruitment news

County Docs had a busy summer with some exciting news to report! Check out the highlights over this past quarter.

  1. We are very excited to announce that we’ve recruited a new physician to join our team! She’s expected to start in the Spring of 2024.
  2. We’re also pleased to share that we have a new locum starting in The County this month. Dr. Sarah Branton will be covering some practices over the next few months, so please make her feel welcome if you see her around. We hope she decides to stay permanently!
  3. County Docs attended The Family Medicine Review Course conference in Toronto in August. We intersected with new and practising physicians prepping to take their National exams.

In addition to our day-to-day recruitment activities, we conducted a program satisfaction survey with our physician group. 87% indicated they were either satisfied or very satisfied with the County Docs Recruitment and Retention Program.

We continue to connect with our Medical Residents during our monthly engagement events. We love dropping in to see our Community Partners during these events! In terms of up coming recruitment events, we’ll be attending the University of Ottawa’s Family Medicine Job Fair at the end of the month.

CURRENT STATE

We currently have seven physician opportunities in PEC. We had two community visits by prospective physicians this past quarter and are currently following a total of 29 leads in varying degrees of interest and readiness. We consider 10 of these to be high potential and are following them closely.

Shout Outs! 📣

County Docs would like to thank Sheryl Herle, our volunteer DAN Coordinator. She does a fantastic job managing much of the network’s day-to-day operations. We’d also like to thank our Community Partners. These are local businesses that support us during hosting activities with new physicians; everything from unique experiences to dining and accommodations. More information about DAN and our Community Partners can be found on our website at www.countydocs.ca
