ANOTHER WIN FOR PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY!
Later this spring, County Docs will welcome yet another family physician to PEC. Dr. Maka Shoniwa will be joining our growing team in Wellington at the Sandbanks Medical Centre.
She will be moving with her partner, Jeremy, and they look forward to enjoying the natural beauty of the County.
Dr. Shoniwa enjoys hiking and being outdoors in her spare time. Let’s give her a warm welcome!

Recruitment news
Highlights:
1.Our final Health Care Connect Premium has been taken, meaning ANOTHER 250 PEC residents will be connected with a family doctor
2. County Docs hosted a “Happy Hour Mingle” for the entire Queens Family Medicine Resident group in Kingston.
3.We gave our website a facelift, creating a fresh new look for 2025!
The Health Care Connect Premium (HCCP) program has ended with a huge success. This past month, we had our last HCCP accessed, which means all 7 premiums have been taken. This program alone has already connected 1250 PEC residents with family doctors, with another 250 being actively rostered at this very moment. With the news of our last HCCP being accessed, another 250 are expected to have a family doctor starting in June 2025. At that point, our HCCP program will come to a close, having connected a total of 1750 PEC residents from the Health Care Connect list to family doctors. But don’t worry, County Docs has more initiatives planned for the future. In the meantime, we’ll be continuing our efforts to bring more family physicians to PEC. Remember to register on Health Care Connect if you do not have a family doctor.
Retirement Notice: Dr. Blair Scrivens has recently retired from his family practice in Wellington. Our entire team extends their heartfelt thanks and best wishes as he embarks on this new chapter of his life. While Dr. Scrivens has retired from his practice, he plans to continue supporting our local Emergency Department, so you may still see him around from time to time. We wish him all the best in his well-earned retirement and thank him for his many years of dedicated service to the community.
Recruitment stats: Over this past quarter, we connected with 4 new leads and are currently following 15 leads in total. We also hosted two prospective physicians for site visits.
